Hi all, I was at a four day event recently, the hours were long (12+ hours some days) and involved a lot of late nights, early mornings, lots of brain work and a whole lot of dancing. But I can honestly say my energy levels were through the roof!
It got me thinking how much better we'd all feel and how much happier we would all be if we had MORE ENERGY and also the ripple effect that would have on our friends and families, imagine having more energy to do the things you enjoy with them.
Now this top tip you all know, every one of you! It's suuuuuper duper easy to implement too but I'm guessing the majority of you don't and I think I might know the reason's for that. 1. you are in the habit of having alternative options 2. you've never been told WHY it's suuuuuuuper important to incorporate it in to your life. We all know there's things we should do in life, but it's only once we truly know WHY that a should becomes a must!!
So what do I think you must do to have more energy that easy, readily available and FREEEEEEE!
Are you ready?..... It's to....... Drink..... More.... lovely, amazing, delicious, tasty...... WATER!!! 💦 💧 💦 I know I know you're rolling your eyes and saying "yeah we we know that, we know that". You do I'm sure... But are you doing it?
If that answer is no below are 12 reasons you should start.
If the answer is yes, then ask yourself this, are you drinking enough? Keep reading right to the to the end find out how much you should be drinking and read the 12 reasons below so you'll realise you why you must have more.
💧1. Water is the largest single component of the body, the brain is 76% water, lungs 90% water, blood 84% water and plasma 98% Water
💧2. Helps us to repair, water serves as a building material for growth and repair of the body
💧3. If you don’t drink water, you will die. That might sound OTT but it's true. Depending on our environment, we can live only a few days without water - maybe a week. We can live much longer without food. For most of us, we should prioritise the consumption of water far more than we currently do, it really is that important..
💧4. Water prevents cancer. Yes, that’s right – various research says staying hydrated can reduce risk of colon cancer by 45% 1 , bladder cancer by 50%2 , and possibly reduce breast cancer risk as well 3.
💧5. Water makes you happy. it's not tequila that makes you happy it's water :) Research says dehydration can affect your mood and make you grumpy and confused 4. Drinking more water will help you to think clearer and be happier :D
💧6. Makes you perform better. Proper hydration contributes to increased athletic performance. Water composes 75% of our muscle tissue! 5 Dehydration can lead to weakness, fatigue, dizziness, and electrolyte imbalance.
💧7. Helps you lose weight. Sometimes we think we are hungry, when actually we are thirsty. Our body just starts turning on all the alarms when we ignore it. For those of you trying to drop some pounds, staying hydrated can serve as an appetite suppressant and help with weight loss.
💧8. Reduces joint pain. Drinking water can reduce pain in your joints by keeping the cartilage soft and hydrated. This is actually how glucosamine helps reduce joint pain, by aiding in cartilage’s absorption of water.
💧9. Flushes out waste and bacteria. Our digestive system needs water to function properly. Waste is flushed out in the form of urine and sweat. If we don't drink water, we don't flush out waste and it collects in our body causing a myriad of problems.
💧10. Prevents headaches. Sometimes headaches can be caused by dehydration, so drinking water can prevent or alleviate that nasty head pain. Next time your head hurts, try drinking water.
💧11. Makes your skin glow. Our skin is the largest organ in our body. Regular and plentiful water consumption can improve the colour and texture of your skin by keeping it building new cells properly
💧12. Feed your body. Water is essential for the proper circulation of nutrients in the body. Water serves at the body’s transportation system and when we are dehydrated things just can’t get around as well.
The long and short of it is this; 💦 💧 💦 EVERY CELL IN YOUR BODY NEEDS WATER 💦 💧 💦 not tea, coffee, coke, energy drinks or any other liquid we drink, JUST WATER, Mother Nature has provided all we need for health. Drinking anything other than water means your body has to break them down (using energy) so they are able to be used by the cells for energy. Drinking water gives cells exactly what they need to generate energy without having to use more energy in the process, plus it's packed full of essential minerals depending on the source.
But I've tried I hear you say...
I know you have, and you've probably tried too hard, and restricted yourself too much initially. The long lasting changes in life are the little ones, if we go from one extreme to the other, guess what the energy it took to push forward, is often the same energy that pulls us back. So my advice is start small and easy, have one big glass of water in the morning before your usual drink choice, and make sure your last drink of the day is water. Once you're in the habit of doing that (after a week) add a glass mid morning, and then one mid afternoon, keep increasing like that and before you know it you'll be drinking more water than ever, feeling better than you have in ages, and you will be giving your body what it needs!!
Oooh one last tip of you suffer from IBS or any other digestive complaints try drinking warm water (1/2 boiled 1/2 cold) instead of cold. I had one lady contact me who's IBS reduced to a manageable level just by making this one little change!
Who is going to give it a go? My moto in life with anything is test it and see! I look at everything as an experiment, and assess how it makes me feel and the difference it makes in my life! Unless you do it, you really don't know how it will make you feel otherwise! |
